About This Course

The Pharmacy Department at Qabas Medical Institute is dedicated to supplying the local, regional, and global markets with highly qualified and trained professionals. This enables graduates to work in all branches of the medical field, including pharmaceutical factories, medicine warehouses, public and private pharmacies, supply and procurement centers, drug provision, and drug inspection and control at land, sea, and airport ports. The Pharmacy Department accepts male and female science stream high school graduates from all governorates of Yemen who wish to enroll in the Pharmacy program. Established in the first year of the institute's founding (2003), the Department of Pharmacy aims to contribute to the nation by providing qualified and competent pharmacists, thereby enhancing the health standards of Yemeni society.
    • Understanding Medical Professional Ethics: The student should be introduced to the ethical principles guiding medical professionals. This includes understanding the responsibilities and obligations towards society while performing their duties.
    • Knowledge of Drug Storage: The student must be knowledgeable about the proper methods of storing and preserving medications. This involves understanding how environmental factors can affect drugs and how to maintain their physical, chemical, and pharmaceutical stability to ensure they remain effective until their expiration date.
    • Comprehensive Drug Knowledge: The student should have a deep understanding of drugs, including their properties, uses, and potential side effects. Additionally, they should be familiar with the fundamentals of healthcare management.
    • Quality Control: The student must be aware of the quality control measures involved in the production of medications, such as plant-based drugs. This includes understanding the processes of packaging, labeling, and manufacturing to ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
    • Dispensing Regulations: The student should be familiar with the regulations governing the dispensing of medications. This includes understanding medical prescriptions, verifying patient information, and ensuring accurate dispensing.
  • After three years of study, during which students receive both theoretical and practical training, graduates of the Pharmacy Technician program will be equipped to handle various health-related issues. They will be qualified to work in a wide range of healthcare settings, including pharmaceutical companies and both in-patient and outpatient pharmacies. Moreover, they will be able to interact effectively with patients and educate them on the correct use of medications
